One of the most memorable characters in the film is Teddy KGB, a Russian mobster played by John Malkovich. His close friend and fellow poker enthusiast, Lester “Worm” Murphy, portrayed by Edward Norton, also plays a significant role.
“Rounders” centers around Mike McDermott, a law student played by Matt Damon, who immerses himself in the underground poker scene of New York City. Over the years, there has been talk of a sequel, “Rounders 2,” which started to annoy the writer on social media, as it became a recurring joke for people to ask him about it. Although the film didn’t perform well initially, it gradually gained a strong cult following, coinciding with the rise in poker’s popularity on TV and the internet.
In 1998, Koppelman co-wrote and directed the poker movie “Rounders” alongside David Levien, with actors Matt Damon and Ed Norton in the lead roles.
